A Movie Script Ending

Vampires will never hurt you

Just when I thought my summer couldn’t be any more uneventful, Star World decides to show reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer weekdays at 5pm (wow, I really do have a knack for advertising, don’t I?).

I’ve been a fan of the show since…well, forever, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the full Season One. I started watching and was lucky enough to catch Season One’s third or fourth episode. Ah…the days when Buffy was still young, naive and incredibly gullible. And back when Angel (David Boreanaz) was still young and drop dead gorgeous.

Buffy was one of those shows that wasn’t trying too hard, you know? Most shows try to make their leading characters overly interesting by adding a few larger-than-life traits and experiences. Most shows have scripts that aren’t realistic at all. Dawson’s Creek is the perfect example of this kind of show. The Dawson’s Creek characters didn’t even act like regular teenagers. They were all extremely witty, funny, good-looking, smart…You get my drift. On Buffy, Joss Whedon makes sure that the characters remain identifiable, even after seven seasons.

Too bad the show ended. It was one of the better shows on TV. But a show’s gotta end, right? I guess Sarah Michelle Gellar’s contract was over. I take it Joss Whedon probably ran out of ideas about potential bad guys and slayer’s banes, too. Besides, they couldn’t just keep resurrecting Buffy over and over again, right? That’s something they only do in Charmed.
